Freshly crowned X Factor winner Sam Bailey was celebrating again on Sunday after her debut single “Skyscraper” became this year’s Christmas number one.
The 36-year-old mother of two outsold rap star Pharrell Williams by two to one to claim the coveted accolade, calling it the “icing on the cake”.
“Being number one is absolutely amazing,” said the former prison guard.
An internet campaign to propel AC/DC classic “Highway to Hell” to the top spot — and keep the X Factor champion off it — failed, but delivered the rockers their first UK top 10 single, charting at number four.
Take That star Robbie Williams’ scored the top Christmas album with “Swings Both Ways”, beating off competition from boy-band One Direction and band mate Gary Barlow.
