APPLE’S OS X MAVERICKS operating system (THE) saiki nganggo 40 persen Macs, a report from online ads network Chitika has claimed.
The firm looked at tens of millions of OS X-based ad impressions on its network between 17 March and 23 March to come to that conclusion, saying that of all the available versions of Apple’s Mac software, including older versions like Mac OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion and Mac OS X 10.7 Lion, 40 percent of web traffic came from Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks.
Apple Mavericks adopted by 40 percent of all Mac users
Apple released its Mac OS X 10.9 Mavericks OS just five months ago and surprised users by making it available as a free download. It is likely that the lack of a price tag is responsible for its success in such a short time.
Miturut comparison, the vast majority of Windows users are running old versions. According to February 2014 stats from Net Applications, only 11 percent of machines with the Microsoft OS are running Windows 8, karo 47 percent of users favouring Windows 7 and a whopping 30 percent clinging to Windows XP, which is about to become unsupported.
Microsoft has tried a range of tricks to persuade XP users to upgrade to a newer Windows version, including warning of the dire security consequences of sticking with the 12-year-old system and offering discounts on new Windows hardware. Perhaps making the OS upgrade free like Apple has done, is the more sensible tactic.
Apple also released a Mac OS X 10.9.1 update in December but that failed to deliver anything very exciting, as it offered mostly bug fixes and minor tweaks.
Mac OS X 10.9.1 brought “improved support for Gmail in OS X Mail, and fixes for users with custom Gmail settings” as well as improving the reliability of Smart Mailboxes and search in Mail.
The Mavericks update also fixed a problem that stopped Voiceover from reading out sentences that contained emoji. Other fixes included updates to the iLife and iWork apps so they would update on non-English systems, and a remedy for an issue that prevented a Contact group name from populating the address field. m
