Apple Tá bucked an-is-mó níos fearr treocht fón agus scaoileadh ar leagan athchóirithe de chuid 5s iPhone 4in, an SE iPhone nua.

Beidh sé ar an smartphone is lú i lineup reatha Apple agus an chéad smartphone a scaoileadh le scáileán níos lú ná 4.7in ó iPhone 6 Scaoileadh i mí Mheán Fómhair 2014.

Greg Joswiak, VP margaíochta táirge do Apple, Dúirt: "Is breá roinnt daoine go simplí fóin níos lú. Agus is é an fón 4in minic a chéad iPhone. Roinnt daoine a d'iarr agus phléadáil linn. Mar sin, táimid ag iarraidh é an SE iPhone. Ár fón 4in is cumhachtaí riamh. "

An SE iPhone - b'fhéidir harking ais i ainm go dtí an ríomhaire Macintosh SE, a scaoileadh i 1987 - Tá samhail fhoirm-fhachtóir go 2013 ar 5s iPhone. Tá sé comhlacht miotail, 4i scáileán, scanóir ID méarloirg tadhaill agus lionsa ceamara dúiseacht, murab ionann agus iPhones is déanaí Apple. Beidh an fón ar fáil i dubh, white, óir agus d'ardaigh ór.

An taobh amuigh den fheiste resembles an 5s iPhone ach beidh an taobh istigh a bheith cosúil leis na 6s iPhone, ag baint úsáide as próiseálaí A9 Apple, sliseanna NFC le tacaíocht a thabhairt do Apple Pá agus níos fearr ceamara 12-megapixel, ar aon dul le Apple 2015 iPhones.

Tá dhá oiread an chumhacht a phróiseáil agus ceithre huaire ar fheidhmíocht grafaicí na 5s iPhone an SE iPhone, chomh maith le saol níos faide ceallraí.

Apple súil go mbeidh an smartphone is lú ina luí siúd fós ag baint úsáide iPhone 5, 5S nó 5C, but who do not want a larger phone of the size of the 4.7in iPhone 6S5.5in 6S Plus, a uasghrádú. Cook estimates that 60% of those using Apple’s smaller iPhones have not yet upgraded to an iPhone 6 or newer, meaning there is a large potential market waiting to be tapped.

Larger smartphone screens have proved popular and have allowed manufacturers to add more features supported by larger batteries, Apple iPhone with its 4.7in screen is remained one of the smallest.

As a smaller, premium smartphone, the new iPhone SE has little in the way of competition. Only Sony produces a widely available flagship smartphone with a smaller screen, leis an 4.6in Xperia Z5 Compact. Other smaller phones made by Motorola, HTC and Samsung are cut-down, cheaper versions with poorer components that target a more budget-conscious section of the market.

Whether there is still demand for a smaller premium-priced smartphone remains to be seen. The downward pressure on price has meant decent smartphones now cost as little as £130, with features similar to top-end models costing four times their price.

Do Apple, the iPhone SE represents a way to target a more cost-sensitive market without stooping to budget levels. In the past the company has used older models of the iPhone, maintaining the 2012 iPhone 4S for sale until the release of the iPhone 6 i 2014, and previous models before that. But selling older smartphones concurrently with new models has added to the company’s burden to maintain smartphone updates for longer, which it typically does for at least three years after release.

The iPhone SE, with internals similar to an iPhone 6S but at a lower price, is easier to cater for with software updates because it reduces the number of hardware variants Apple has to support.

The iPhone SE will be released on 31 Márta, with pre-orders starting 24 Márta, costing from $399 in the US, or £359 in the UK, for 16GB of storage; $499 in the US, or £439 in the UK, with 64GB of storage.
