GAME DEVELOPER Square Enix will release the Android version of Final Fantasy 5 next week, some months after it appeared on iOS.
The firm revealed its intentions in a Twitter message. It kept things light and limited itself to saying, “Final Fantasy V will be coming to Android devices on Thursday September 26, 2013!”.
It was the European Square Enix account that made the announcement, so the smart money says that this means it will be a European release at least.
To whet punters appetites the firm has cut the price of Final Fantasy 4, and you can pick that up from the Play store now for £7.49. That is about 30 percent off.
Final Fantasy 5 was first released over two decades ago, but was popular with players. Some might be disappointed that the firm continues to blow life back into such old titles, as opposed to developing new ones.
The high resolution version of the game was released for iPhone and iPad on 28 March 2013.
Final Fantasy 13 is the latest title to come forth in the swords and spells roleplaying series.
We do not know how much the Android version of the 20 some years old game will cost, but on the Apple App Store the iOS version released this spring costs £10.99.
Given the time between releases we can hope that the Android version has the same features as the Apple version, includes the extended job classes available and retains the new graphics. µ
